Hi people! 🙂
Say you can immediately speak ten languages. Which ones do you choose?
My answer:
OK, so I’m not counting in the languages I already speak/am learning, which are Polish, English, Swedish and Welsh. The 10 languages I’d like to be able to speak immediately would be: Finnish, Sami (North, or Luleå), Faroese, Dutch, Frisian, Scots, Irish, Scottish (Gaelic), Manx and Cornish. Oh how cool, I’ve actually managed to squeeze in all my languages! That being said, I’d love if that would also mean my English, Swedish and, particularly, Welsh, would become more fluent.
What are your choices? 🙂
In no particular order: Chinese (Mandarin Chinese), French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Portuguese, Swahili, German, Vietnamese and Navajo.

Ooo. I forgot about American Sign Language! I’d LOVE to know how to ‘speak’ that one. Especially as I get deafer, the older I get.

I think it is a very useful language. If I wasn’t blind, I think I’d give a sign language a go too.

Definitely American Sign Language, and then…. I’d choose whichever languages would be most relevant or likely to help me in a logistical sense. World languages, I guess, like Spanish, Japanese, Tagalog, Urdu, Mandarin, Latin, and Italian.

Very relevant I think! 🙂
Btw did you see my email from yesterday? Not that I’m so impatient but it’s about MIMRA so I need your answer preferably until tomorrow, but I understand if you’re very busy. 🙂

I love that your language interests are so non-mainstream. Besides English, I’d like to speak French and Spanish (both of which I can already speak a little bit of), Italian, Russian, Swedish, Arabic, Swahili, Xhosa, Farsi, and maybe one of the local Indigenous languages like Sḵwx̱wú7mesh sníchim.

Thanks. 🙂
What an intriguing name! I’m all for indigenous and extincting languages so I definitely love the idea! 🙂

I’d love to learn some form of sign language too, now that I think of it. I can’t though, as I’m blind, so maybe four-handed sign language (as tactile sign language is called here). Other than that, I’d go with German, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Spanish and maybe Irish.

Oh yeah, I forgot I learned some basics of four-handed sign language as a kid, but I’m pretty sure I hardly remember anything from that now.

Sadly I am fluent in only 1 language…English. Here’s my wish list…Korean (I’m korean-american), spanish, french and sign language. Although this is only 5 including English, I’d be happy being fluent in 5 languages!!
