Question of the day (3rd February).

What’s the most symbolic item in your living room?

My answer:

I guess it depends what you mean by symbolic. Hmm, maybe the telly? 😀 For my Dad and Zofijka it’s definitely symbolic. 😀 But other than that, I guess we don’t have many symbolic things. 😀

How about you? 🙂

Question of the day.

What’s your favourite comfort viewing and what would you chose to snack on and sip whilst watching?

My answer:

Well, I don’t really have a lot of comfort viewings. I could say “Rännstensungar”, (“Guttersnipes”), that film with Vreeswijk, or any other film with Vreeswijk playing even in one scene, as we’re at it, 😀 but I mentioned it so many times it’s boring even for me hahahaha. I mean saying this, not the film. 😀 I So other than that I like to watch some British films or series or shows on BBC, which I usually, well, always, do with my Mum, we watch stuff like “Happy Valley” for example, or some programmes about houses or interior design made in Britain. Also for linguistic purposes sometimes I like to watch some Welsh series on S4C, but it’s not much lately. Oh well I guess I’ve talked about all of this before too! 😓 I’m definitely not a movie expert or binge watcher though haha. OK, another thing I like to watch is any not too boring movie in some rarely heard language, be it Danish, Czech, Hungarian, Flemish or Estonian, not necessarily one of my most favourites, but of course films in my favourite languages are always great. And snacks? Some salty or spicy things. Like crisps, peanuts, pistachios, nachos, krackers, sometimes popcorn. In the past I often had a drink, like whisky, or whisky with Pepsi, or hot tea with lemon, honey and a tiny little bit of whisky at winter, particularly at times when we didn’t have the heating in our old house hahaha, but nowadays it’s not my routine while watching or anything, but I like to drink Pepsi or orange juice if there is any, particularly if it’s my Mum’s home made orange juice.

Question of the day.

Have you ever known anyone who has been on any kind of reality TV show/competition?

My answer:

Yes. The school for the blind where I was going to was pretty much set on music, there was a music school and even many of those students who didn’t have any particular talent for music were attending it, to a point that it felt more than a bit like pressuring for many, not only those without a talent. But there also were lots of people who thanks to this discovered their passion for music, usually singing but often also playing different instruments and many people were participating in different kind of competitions, also sometimes TV competitions. Some of them I knew better, some just a little bit – the school was generally pretty small so people at least heard about each other. Other than reality shows and talent competitions, I had a friend who played in a series as a kid, and became quite known for this, and when I was in nursery – the same place where the school for the blind was practically – they were making a film about it which was once on the TV, and as I mentioned some time ago I was also in it, and a lot of other kids whom I know and with whom I went to schol later on.

Question of the day (23rd July).

Who is a celebrity you enjoy watching in movies/TV?

My answer:

Celebrity, hm, I’d say my previous crush – well, he’s still my crush but he just got dominated as it is always with my crushes after some time – Cornelis Vreeswijk, but I don’t really know if I can cal him a celebrity, because first, he’s not living any longer since the late 80’s, and second, he definitely could be called a celebrity in his time, but only a local celebrity, in Sweden, so, does it count? Anyway, he was mostly singer/songwriter, also an outstanding poet, but he also played in a few movies including my favourite one – “Rännstensungar” (Guttersnipes), I love this film mainly because of him and his play and his role, he’s just so so expressive. And generally whenever I can see any of my more or less famous crushes anywhere on the TV I am over the moon and all the possible galaxies.

But I guess that’s boring and rather predictable of me to say it, so, other than that, recently, like a few months ago, me and my Mum were watching “The King’s Speech”, well I actually watched it before and it was fascinating but it was ages ago and I liked it so I wanted to watch it again and sort of refresh it, this time without any subtitles or anything to challenge my English a little bit, and I thought my Mum would like it too. And, the person who for some reason has reeally drawn my attention and interest was Helena Bonham Carter – playing Queen Elizabeth in this film. – I don’t know, just something in her play spoke to me, I liked her in that role, and I don’t often care that much about acting in movies, if I care about movies at all. but there was something special to me about her play. And after that I wanted to get to know Helena more and I did, I read a lot about her, which got me to the conclusion that in a way she’s just my type of person, and then I watched some other movies with her, so far only two – “Henry VIII and Great Expectations – and I particularly liked her in the latter as miss Havisham, she was awesome, I only regret I didn’t have anyone to audiodescribe it for me, but anyway. So yeah I think if I had to choose someone more widely known it would be Helena.

Oh and another actress I like, she’s certainly not a celebrity, but I had a time when I watched or listened anything with her I could is Catherine Lundell. She’s Swedish, she’s a very niche actress and doesn’t seem to play a lot nowadays, she has some sort of chronic illness and she is also a quite dynamic activist in that field. I like the roles she always get, how unique they are, and I like her voice, which is quite husky, it’s I guess the effect of her illness but it really fits many of her roles I think. She’s cool.

So how about you? 🙂

Question of the day.

What is the last thing you watched?

My answer:

The only thing I watch regularly nowadays is “Rownd A Rownd” (Round And Round) a series on S4C which is a Welsh language channel in UK, and some programmes are also available outside. I watch this series because of linguistic reasons, but of course after some time you involve into it. And also my current crush has played in it for a while, that’s another reason. So that was the last thing I watched.

You? 🙂

Question of the day.

Have you watched any really good TV shows lately? What were they?

My answer:

Nope, I actually haven’t watched TV in weeks now. The only thing I watch pretty regularly for linguistic purposes is Welsh series called “Rownd A Rownd”, but practically it’s not TV as I watch it on my computer. But other than that if I watch TV, it’s either for social reasons – I watch it with my Mum and we talk about stuff, drink something, have snacks and not always actually focus on what we watch, or because I really like it and find it interesting while at the same time haven’t anything better to do, which happens very very rarely.

How about you?
