Effy Simon – “Stockholm”.

   Hey people! 🙂

I’ve shared on here at least one song about Stockholm already, and today I thought I’d share another one, because it’s a cool city and there are a lot of cool songs about it. This one comes from a singer who, as far as I’m aware is not from Stockholm herself, but from Malmö in Sweden, or perhaps that’s just where she’s based now. As a name nerd, I was kind of intrigued by her name – Effy – because Effy is usually a nickname of Euphemia/Eufemia, and I’m a huge fan of this name, so I wondered if she could be an Eufemia, which would be super neat especially that I don’t think it’s a very common name in Sweden at all, I guess it just isn’t common anywhere. 😀 But, interestingly, her full name is Fanny Maria Hilma Malmborg Simonsson. Yes, Fanny is a common  name in Sweden and it does not have any vulgar connotations there. It was one of her non-Swedish friends who started calling her Effy, and over time she started identifying with it and decided to use it as her stage name. Very rightly so, I think, given that she spends a lot of time in the UK from what I read and wants to go beyond just Swedish music scene, because at least from what I’ve noticed, a lot of people in the Anglosphere have a hard time understanding that something that means something bad or weird or funny in English could coincidentally be a perfectly acceptable, normal, even common name in another language, or perhaps not so much understanding but getting over it. I think Effy is a cute name. Anyways, going back to the song, I’ve come across it relatively recently and I liked it, as I did other Effy’s songs, so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on her musical activity.

Question of the day.

Would you prefer a vacation to a big city or a national park?

My answer:

Out of the two, a national park sounds better to me I guess, although it would also depend on a lot of things, what sort of city it would be or what I would do in a park. I generally am not a big city person, but then on the other hand one of the best summer holidays I’ve had was in Stockholm, which perhaps isn’t huge when you look at the whole world, but is still a city and a capital one, so I guess there’s no rule at all. But generally, as I said, I’d be more inclined to choose a park and I’m pretty sure my family would say the same, perhaps except for Sofi.

You? 🙂

Peg Parnevik – “STHLM Nights”.

Hi guys! 🙂

Continuing with English-language music from Sweden, today I have for you a song that, in my mind, is very strongly associated with my Swedish holidays. I went to Stockholm in 2017 and this song was released a year before. It’s not only because this song talks about Stockholm, but also because, while there, I heard it several times in Sveriges Radio, and it was a real earworm for me at the time. I don’t love it, but it’s quite cool. For Peg Parnevik, Stockholm is the city where she was born, however she has spent a large part of her childhood in Jupiter in Florida. To Swedes, apparently she’s known from a TV series called Parneviks where various celebrities would come to live with her family. She has quite a badass feel to her music, and from what I heard has also struggled with an eating disorder, thus I’m the more willing to share her music with you, since my blog is very much mental health-focused, even though this song has nothing to do with it.

Question of the day (18th October).

Hi guys. 🙂

Let’s have some holiday/travel related questions of the day for a while.

What is the furthest you’ve ever been from home?

My answer:

Stockholm, Sweden. And the nearby areas. That was such an awesome holiday! I stayed there for a week.

You? 🙂

Question of the day (29th September).

What’s the greatest trip you ever took?

My answer:

That would be my week long trip to Stockholm. I’ve written about it many times so I won’t again, but that was simply wonderful, albeit very challenging and extremely emotionally exhausting.

Yours? 🙂
