Music Monday Blog Party – Danielle Lewis – Breuddwyd Yn Tyfu (Dreams Grow).

Hi guys! πŸ™‚

So another week is gone, and to start another one in a positive way, I’m participating in Bee’s Music Monday Blog Party

. Let’s celebrate our lives together and enjoy some good music.

Today I am still celebrating not only my life, but also the fact my shitty exams are over, it’s still so exciting for me and I feel so relieved. Besides, as I wrote in the last coffee share post, I have just discovered those so called five Tibetan rites and we were doing them with Mum today in the morning. I’ve also had coffee and some yummy cookies today. I’ve also had psychiatric assessment earlier today, and hoping it’ll help me in a longer perspective to get more support, as well as understand myself better and be kinder to myself, and will lead me to focus on my mental health more than I did it for most of my life. I plan on getting new pedicure sometime in the evening, my Mum will do it for me, I have a fantastic, graphite nail polish. I love graphite colour and I like having my nails polished in some shade of black. In les than a week, there will be an occasion for celebrating Zofijka’s life, since it’s her birthday on Sunday. It’s her favourite day during the year. She is generally very focused on getting presents and always can’t wait to get her birthday presents. I got a very cool and funny idea as for what to get for her. Recently she fell in love with skunks. That’s so weird, but I must say I like it, I like when people have strange likes, and so far Zofijka has been a rather typical kid, but at the same time was often very upset if someone was doing something like her or liking the same things, or having the same clothes etc. So now she has her own passion, ’cause well, who likes skunks? She is a little embarrased anytime someone mentions it, but I try to convince her there’s nothing wrong i liking something no one else around you likes, people around you aren’t the only ones in the world and there are lots of other people who like skunks too who share her liking, but are too far away from her and too few to make her feel she’s one of many. And I can see why she likes them. They can be pretty charming, if not that smashing smell, don’t you think? We have lots of nicknames which we use while talking to each other and recently she even asked me very shyly whether I could call her Little Skunk sometimes. I did my best not to laugh. But the idea is fun, so now Sophie is my Little Skunk.

Anyways, what I wanted to talk about – no, I’m not gonna buy her a domesticated skunk. But one day I read a blog post for her of someone else who also likes skunks (she wanted me to look up online whether there is someone else as weird as her) and the lady who wrote that post mentioned that she had a collection of china skunks. That seemed so very original for me, and Zofijka became obsessed with them. SO I told her I’ll try to get her some skunk figurines for her birthday if I’ll find some and she was thrilled. But then she said that o, she doesn’t want figurines, she wants something more practical… PJ’s maybe? Naaah, there will be only a drawing on skunk on it, she wanted something in the shape of skunk. And then she said that she wants either skunk slippers or a skunk pillow. I thought that was soo creative.

So today when she went out to school I asked Mum to find something, whether such things actually exist and look nice. We searched for anything with skunks, but there were no slippers and no pillows. Then Mum searched speciffically for skunk slippers in the Polish language internet and there were a few, but they only had a skunk printed on them. So we searched in English and there were such fantastic skunk slippers, Mum said they seemed very comfy and soft and Zofijka has to have everything comfy, plus they were just like she wanted, well apart from an extremely long tail. Zofijka is a sort of designer and if she wants something, like clothes or stuff, she always has some image of it before in her head, therefore it’s often hard to satisfy her since such exact things may just not exist. But in case of skunks she seems to be lucky. So I ordered them and I hope she will like them.

OK, so now on to the music.

The song I have for you today, is actually two songs, because there is a Welsh and English version of it, so I thought I’ll share both. The lyrics are almost the same for both of them. I really like their lyrics. They’re sung by Danielle Lewis.

The Welsh version is not as widely available, so I’ll drop you the linkΒ  to my Dropbox and it will expire after a month.

And here’s the ENglish version:

Music Monday – De Montevert – Rebel Yell.

Hi all! πŸ™‚

It is Monday, so it’s Music Monday Blog Party

at the Bee’s today.

And that means it’s time for celebrating our lives and enjoying some good music.

As you probably already know, I have two more exams ahead and I’ll be actually finished with my education for now. Can’t wait for this to happen, although my feelings about it are a little mixed. There is a two hours drive to the school where I pass them, so tomorrow I’ll have to get up at 4 AM.

Therefore I’m having a very lazy day today, trying to not think about the exams too much and just relax, after all these two shouldn’t be very difficult, althugh Polish oral exam is a little bit of a lottery unfortunately. I’m trying to distract myself and spending loads of time with Misha.

He’s been very cuddly lately, which is so good. He has various favourite places where he likes to sleep or hide, they’re very changeable, like one week he might prefer his cartonboard, the next he tends to rather sleep in his basket on my bed, then in Zofijka’s room and then again in the cartonboard, it’s a little unpredictable what his new hideout/sleeping place will be. You may think he’ll not use something any more to sleep in it and want to get rid of it and the next day you can see him laying in/on/under it. That’s actually very cute.

And now Misha’s favourite place to sleep seems to be the quilt on my bed. He looks so beautiful on it. I actually wanted my Mum to take a pic of him on it, it’s just so so sweet, but she was quite busy at the time he was lying here.

But you know what’s the cutest about it? That he also likes to lie here at night, and so when I am in bed, I can use Misha as my heater. I have chronically cold feet which can suck a bit at night so I definitely appreciate it, don’t have to make a termophore for myself, I have a living one which is warm all night long. πŸ˜€ Usually when Misha’s at night with me, which is often, he prefers to sleep in his basket on my bed. I’m absolutely OK with it, but I always try to encourage him to sleep with me in bed and always reward him for doing so even for just 15 minutes, since as I’ve mentioned a few times before he’s quite a private creature and likes to have a lot of his own space and feels unsafe being too close with any other being. So I am sooo happy he sleeps on the quilt so willingly now and long may it last.

So today I decided to jump on the chance ’cause only God knows how long this quilt trend will keep and lied with him on it for a long long time, reading a book and listening to his very silent purring and his breath, heartbeat and all the gurgles and hums inside him with huge contentment, I love doing it. It is very hot here, I don’t remember it to be so hot in May anytime in recent years, so I also went out on the terrace for a while with my Mum and we had a coffee. And as I came back into my room, I realised Misha is still asleep on my bed, so I laid beside him again. We didn’t have as much cuddling as today for ages, it’s really difficult with such a wild child as Misha is.

So that’s how my celebrations looked like today. πŸ™‚

And the song I chose to share with you today is from Sweden. This girl’s name is Ellinor Nilsson, but she’s known by her stage name – De Montevert. I must say there’s something special to her music. I rarely listen to the whole album and all tracks in order more often than once in a while, but I’ve been listening to her whole debut album five times this month and every time I discovered something new. It’s not like I’m very crazy about her music, but it really speaks to me in some way.

Here’s her song, Rebel Yell.

Music Monday – Gurli Octavia – You Lay Low.

Hi hi peeps! πŸ™‚

I’ve been MIA for a few days, but today I’m back with some music for you. Today’s song of the day post I’d like to combine with the post about celebrating my life because Bee over at The Bee Writes

is running the second Music Monday Blog Party which is an amazing opportunity to celebrate our lives and share some fantastic music.

So, as for celebrating my life, today I’m having a bit of a self care day. The last few weeks were rather tough for me, with all these exams and other stressing stuff. As you may know last Thursday I finally finished my school year, although my final exams are still to come. You could think I should be happy and relieved that finally the school is over and all, and I was incredibly relieved, but also was feeling incredibly depressed for the whole weekend, didn’t just have any energy and spent most of the time either sleeping or self-hating or overthinking or listening to Emilie Autumn. Maybe as the tension became slightly less my brain decided it’s time to slow down and depression was the result of it, I don’t know, but I was feeling really crappy. Today I’m still rather low, but my energy is higher and things don’t seem so overwhelming and hopeless hence I thought about a little self care day.

Actually the thing I’m mainly focused on today is snuggling with Misha. He seems to be very sociable today, is still with me. I had two cups of delicious coffee in the morning chatting a lot with Mum and a few hours ago we went to the confectionery nearby and had some incredibly yummy icecream, and then had a long walk. It’s very sunny today, but not hot, so it felt very nice. I am reading the only Jane Austen’s book I haven’t read before and it’s Sanditon. I love Jane Austen’s books, they always make me smile and I like her way of describing people. They’re light, but not so light that your brain turns off while you read them, if you know what I mean.

So that’s about how I celebrate my day today. I need to recharge because tomorrow we’ll have a BBQ with our extended family – I don’t know who came up with this silly idea you have to make BBQs in May – so I’m recharging before that happens and to get some energy for my finals, of which the first is coming on Friday. I’m sick of fear, but trying to not think about it more than I have to. At least my Dad has been very nice and offered us to drive us back and forth on Friday, so I’ll have to spend only one night there at that boarding school, from Monday to Tuesday, and that makes things much easier and more manageable than staying there from Friday to Tuesday. Of course my Dad doesn’t know how much of a deal is staying there for me, but he just has a day off work on Friday so it was his own suggestion to drive me and Mum and Zofijka will go with us too.

OK, so my song for today is “You Lay Low” by Gurli Octavia. Gurli Octavia is one of the artists I discovered very recently. She’s Danish and lives in Copenhagen.

Cara Dillon ft. Sam Lakeman – Dubhdara.

Hi guys! πŸ™‚

Today I will most probably share with you two songs, so, be prepared, but for now, here is a song from Cara Dillon. Also I’d like to do a little series with Cara’s music, since there is more than one song I’d like to share with you, and, as always in such cases, it’d be a crime to pick just one, so in the next few days you can expect me to post some more songs by Cara.

Cara Dillon is from Ireland, she is a sister to Mary Dillon, who is also a singer and a leader of a Celtic folk band Deanta. Cara is also in a relationship with a musician Sam Lakeman, with whom she’s been collaborating, for some time under tHE NAME Polar Star. She is known for interpretations of popular Irish traditional songs and for her clear, youthful and melodious voice which I really am a fan of.

If you’re curious what Dubhdara means, it’s a Medieval Irish name meaning “dark oak”.

Bronwen Lewis – Edrych Ar ol Fy Hun (Looking after myself).

Another Welsh-language song for today. This is my favourite song by Bronwen Lewis. Unfortunately it doesn’t exist neither on Youtube nor on Spotify, so I’m sharing it via Dropbox, it will expire after a month.
