Time to reveal…

…the truth… about both of my new blogging ideas. I don’t know yet whether I’ll bring them to life, particularly one of them, which hugely depends on whether you’ll like it, and that’s why I need your opinion.

The first one is a name game. I stole the idea from Behind The Name, where there are lots of different name games. While I’m generally not the best and not always inspired to create name games myself, I thought this one would be great to do with you. Though I need you to tell me before I’ll run it, whether you like it and whether you’d like to play it. I think it’ll be good to have at least 4 people playing. Here are some basic facts about the game.

It’s an adoption agency type of game and I would call it “Emisha’s Adoption Agency”. It’d be a very personalised name game, for all those who have any interest in names, but also those who don’t know much about names and aren’t particularly interested, but are interested and like children, are welcome. Those who don’t particularly love children in general are welcome too, it’s just an imaginary play, I myself am not very much into children either, apart from my sis, but I love helping people to name their kids. You’d have to make up a family – be it imaginative, or your own, or any family that you know, or just you – who want to adopt a child, or children. I will make a form that I will post here, and all you have to do is make a post replying on your blog – or do it in the comments – if you prefer. Just paste the form, fill it in with the information about the family, their preferences about the kid(s). Adoptions can be global, which imo makes it more fun namewise, the more that we’re all from different places.

Then, I will match your family with the kid(s) that suit them. So, I will name them, and will give you a bit of an info about their background. I will make a separate post on my blog for each player’s family, and pingback it to their post where they filled in the form, or if you filled it in the comments I will comment on one of your posts and notify you that I’ve matched your family. If there will be more people playing, it may take me some time to match the families, so please be patient.

Then the next thing is actually not obligatory, but very welcome, and it adds more fun to the game. You can make another post – or leave it on my blog in comments section, as you wish – about how your family is doing with a new member(s) and how the new one(s) is/are settling in. It depends on you how fast the time is passing in this game so you can write about them after two, five, or ten years, or as many as you wish, after the adoption. As I said this isn’t obligatory to do, but I’d love to hear about your family and how are they doing.

If you won’t particularly like the child(ren)’s name(s), if they’re babies or toddlers you can change it, that happens often in international adoptions as far as I know, but if they’re older, it may be a problem. Therefore, apart from the normal form, there will be an optional section, which you can fill with the names that you like, to give me some hints about your taste. I won’t use any of those names for your child(ren), but I will use them as inspirations to give them a name that you’ll like.

So that’s it, very briefly, I’m looking forward to hear whether you’d be up to playing it or not and if so, I think we can start it some time at the beginning of July. Also let me know if you have any questions, or suggestions about it.

And then there is my second idea, which is another series of posts, to accompany question of the day and song of the day. It would be weekly. I thought it would be good if I did something linguistic on my blog more regularly. And, with the help from some other people, I came up with the idea of a word of the week series. But, there wouldn’t be just English words. There would be words from any language in the world, even from those that I don’t speak and even from those that I’m not particularly interested in, although words from the languages that I know would probably dominate since most of the words I know and love are in these languages I knwo and love. There would be words that I like, love, that interest me or that sound funny to me, that annoy me or that I just hate, or that have anything else that makes them indifferent to me. I would add some info about them, like their usage, or definitions, or my associations, also the synesthetic ones, and how I feel about it, or whatever else would come to my mind about them. There are lots of new words that I come across every week and I think so is with everyone of us. Also words can be very inspiring, and I thought that maybe after the death of Daily Post and their word prompts, my weekly word choices could be an inspiration for someone else’s post. I need to think about it more and make it a bit more clear and concrete in my brain, and think how I could make these posts even more inspiring, because if you get a foreign word, it often may be hard to relate to it in any way, but that’s the basic idea of this series.

What do you think? Would you be interested? Do you have any thoughts about it? I am already always writing down the words from all the languages that appeal to me in any way, or that draw my attention either positively or negatively, but if I’m gonna do it on here, I think I need to know what’s my readers’ opinion about it. 🙂

So that’s it, looking forward to read your thoughts. 🙂

Ideas needed.

I have a question for you guys.

Recently I’ve been thinking a lot on adding something new to my blog and thought I could d something related to names. I’ve done a few name games in the past and wrote that post a few days ago about names and people’s personalities, and now I’m wondering what could it be and in what form. ANother series maybe? If series then it would appear weekly I think.

I absolutely love name games myself and I have a feeling that you enjoyed them too, particularly the first one I guess, but I’m not big at making them, unless I really have an inspiration, but usually I don’t have. Those two I’ve done in the past were actually based on patterns of other games as I told you. So name games could be a nice thing, but I just don’t think I could be systematic with it.

I also thought about some kind of more educational series where I’d pick one name and post its meaning, etymology, rankings and stuff, but am not sure whether there’s really a point in doing it, there are already a few blogs on WP about it.

Relating to the post about names and personalities I also thought about writing posts about particular names and traits they give people, or making such posts for your request.

Does any of these ideas appeal to you? Have you any suggestions as for how it could look like? Or maybe you have any other ideas about name posts I coul d make? Do you think there is a point in doing any kind of regular name posts or is it too niche?

Will be grateful for any suggestions cause I’d like it to be fun for you or something people will be interested in. 🙂

Question of the day.

Is there anything you’d like to tell me, or any question you want to ask me?

I’m gonna tell you guys things that I want to tell you at the moment.

My answer:

Hmmm, there could be a lot of things I could tell you, my lovely readers. First of all I’d like to thank you once again for the fact you are here, reading all of my scribbles and for all your likes and comments. I am thankful for all of you – those already 103 followers (yippeee!!!! thanks) and those of you who don’t follow me but still read my blog more or less often. And I am thankful for each one of you separately, all of your reading, likes, comments and follows, that means so much to me. You probably already know that I had a few other blogs before this one, they were much more humble, I even had one Polish blog on WordPress, but I’ve never got so many followers and I could only dream about so many comments and likes, it was in a big part due to my very poor idea as for how to promote myself and that although there are many blogs on Polish blogs, interactions on them are, usually, fairly poor. SO when I came here to the English language WordPress community, I felt shocked immediately, since I was getting likes actually immediately after I published my first post, and it was something I absolutely wouldn’t expect after my experiences with Drimolandia (that was how my previous blog was called). So yeah I’m so thankful for all of you.

What else can I tell you, I think I can tell you a bit about my day. So again, unfortunately, it is a Zombie day. Ughhhh. For those of you who may not know, Zombie day is how I call every day after a night of no sleep. ‘Cause well you literally feel and perceive the world a bit like a Zombie then, don’t you? I hate it so much, but not much I can do about it. It’s after 9 AM now and as for now I feel pretty decent and not sleepy at all, but I know that if I want to keep it this way or at least similarly I’d soon have to help myself with a coffee or two. In my case catching up on sleep during the day isn’t a good option and I do it only when I’m so exhausted that my brain falls into pieces and can’t function anymore because it doesn’t help my sleep cycle to settle and most probably I’d have another night of poor sleep ahead. So I’ll just have to get through it and then go to sleep possibly early hoping my sleep cycle will set up properly at least for a while. Shit I wonder what I’ll do if one of the days when I’ll have my finals will be a Zombie day. That would be a nightmare, but I guess that since I can’t do much about it, I shouldn’t think too much about it as it won’t help. So during that sleepless night I was reading a very interesting book, in Swedish. Almost half a year has passed since the last time I read a book in Swedish, so decided it is definitely a time to change it, and this book seemed so cool. It’s called “Konsten Att Vara Ela” (The art of being Ela) and it’s written by Johanna Nilsson. It’s kinda psychological novel about a girl, or actually a woman, who is very lost in her life, her family has fall apart and she can’t accept it, she isn’t really a grown up and she doesn’t want to be, she wants to be crazy, wild and free and so she’s criticised by her family. She generally feels very lonely, but then she finds a little, neglected girl called Klara whose mum is a druggie and homeless and can’t take care of Klara So Ela takes care of her. And she generally starts to change. Don’t know where it all is going yet, as I’m still in the middle, but it’s very interesting. My Mum woke up very early so I gave up on trying to get at least some little bit sleep in the morning and got up to, it was like 6. We talked about Zofijka’s school. Mum always talks to me about all her issues, that’s nice, well I mean I appreciate it because I guess it has to mean she trusts me, but she also almost always asks me for advice, and this time it was so too. Zofijka’s having lots of trouble at school, with her friends, and Mum doesn’t know what to do about it and how to be objective. The problem is I don’t know either, as I am not a children specialist and don’t plan to be one ever, so I just told her to go with her instinct and she was like oh wow yes you’re right I’ll do so thank you! like I said something extremely original and completely new, which made me kinda confused. 😀 But maybe that’s how it feels for her and if so, I’m glad I could help her. Then also Zofijka came and we all talked about it. She’s so poor, I really feel for her for all these stupid school affairs she’d been thrown in. That’s very complicated plus it’s her thing so I won’t go in the details here, I’ll simply tell you that it is a classic school issue. Because she’s different, has a different view on lots of things, because we as a family are different so she has a slightly different upbringing or way of life or call it what you want and a little different outlook on some things than all of those so very typical kids in her class, she’s now not liked in her class apparently by anyone. And she’s actually alone. It is a big deal for such a social butterfly who is made for and get used to be always in the limelight. And it’s hard to be wise in such situation, you know. Because she also isn’t a docile angel, and can be very moody, bossy, egocentric and stuff, so as we suppose, part of the guilt for why they don’t like her is on her side too. Zofijka was so stressed out that she didn’t even go to school yesterday, Mum actually drove her, but as she got out of the car she started to cry desperately and keep saying she doesn’t want to go to school, so Mum let her stay, if things are so very stressful, one day shouldn’t make much of a change. Today she did go to school though and on her own and I really hope things will be improving. There are always some kind of affairs in Zofijka’s class and somehow she s always involved in them, don’t really know if by her own choice or accidentally and don’t know what to think about it. Now there are only Mum and me and Misha inand I think I’ll soon have that coffee.

And the question I want to ask you, other than the main one is, what do you like the most on my blog?

So yeah, very curious as for your answers for both these questions.

Month of blogging, yaaay!

Exactly. My Inner MishMash had its official birthday three days ago, but since I spent three days on setting it up, the actual birth took place on 26th of January. So far I am really excited with blogging and everything about that, moreover, I feel like it never was as enjoyable for me and as successful on any with my previous blogs as it is now.

Also I would like to thank you all who are following my blog, reading, liking and commenting my posts, I am extremely grateful to you and so very happy you are here.

But I am also curious if you like it here and what speciffically you like here, hence I thought I will make a poll.

Thanks in advance for voting and I will be even more thankful if you have any suggestions or ideas about what you’d like to see here in future and if you will let me know about them in the comments. I have some ideas I would like to start in future, but as ideas are never too many, yours will be enormously appreciated as well. Also feel free to give me any additional honest feedback in the comments if you’d like to.
