Song of the day – Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog – Cân Y Capten Llongau (Captain’s Ships’ Song).

So finally I have a song for today for you guys. It’s one of the songs I like quite a lot recently and listen to it pretty often. I don’t know what it is in it, but I find it quite moving, even if it didn’t seem so for me the first time I heard it. With my poor Welsh language skills I understand maybe half, or most probably even less of the lyrics, but anyway, somehow it’s moving.

As for the band, Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, they are three brothers – Iwan Glyn, Dafydd Rhys and Aled Wyn Hughes – from Rhos Botwnnog in Northern Wales. Aled Hughes has also his show on BBC Radio Cymru. Their style is something between americana/country and folk. I am not a big fan of country, but I like them and actually I see much more of a folkish vibe in their music, than country-ish. If I am translating the title (“CânY Capten Llongau”) well into English, it means something like “captain’s ships’ song”.

As the album version isn’t on Youtube, again I will link to this song on Spotify.
