Nansi Richards – “Castell Rhuthun” (Ruthin Castle).

   Hey people! 🙂

Today I have a short harp tune for you from the Welsh harpist Nansi Richards or Telynores Maldwyn. This piece’s title refers to a castle called Castell Rhuthun, or Ruthin Castle in English, which is a medieval castle in the Vale of Clwyd near Ruthin, built by the brother of prince Llywelyn ap Gruffydd – Dafydd. – This castle is now a hotel.

  1. I can see that I am going to spend some musical quality time with Nansi Richards

there are five songs in the YouTube algorithm – all from that album/compilation.

Also there is A FINGERING VAMP from a different collection.

    1. I really hope you’ll enjoy spending the time with her music! 🙂 She’s definitely one of the best Welsh harpists, and folk harpists in general as well I think, and I like her very much.

    2. Yay! 🙂 I’m always happy when I can introduce awesome music to people, and Nansi’s music is worth getting to know thoroughly. Another Welsh harpist that I share on here a lot – Llio Rhydderch – was actually her student so you might want to check her out as well, though she plays only the Welsh triple harp and has a bit of a different style overall.

      1. Going in with the Llio Rhydderch now.

She has 6 albums at least.

        I am going with TELYN.

And her sound is so FULL!

It really articulates from note to note; from tie to tie.

And the ties between students and professors and mentors are powerful things.
