Would you rather have three pets or three kids?
My answer:
I think three pets is a more realistic option as I am most likely not going to have kids and have no desire for that to happen. Also we already do have over three pets – Misha, Jocky, and several fishes. –
That being said, I think if I lived by myself three pets wouldn’t be an option either, I wouldn’t decide to have more than one pet for sure, and I most definitely wouldn’t if I still had Misha, Because the only pet I would ever consider having would be a cat (well, I would be extremely happy to have a horse too, but it’s probably even less likely to happen than kids, and especially if I lived on my own π ) and we learned the hard way that it’s not a good idea to have another cat while we have Misha. Even if it wasn’t Misha, I think I’m probably always going to be wary of the idea of having more than one cat at a time, having heard very different opinions about this and having had the negative experience with Misha and Sasha that I’ve had, I wouldn’t like to go through something similar again. Even aside from whether they would get along or not, I think having just one cat would let me give more love and attention to it without having to divide it, and also it’s just easier to take care of one vs three.
How about you? π
I have raised my children and it is definitely, in my opinion, for someone much younger. If I could do it over again and if I had a supportive husband to assist me, I would have many children, not just two. (I actually have three children, but my son was stillborn.) And probably as many pets. But if answering this question right now, I would say neither. I have no desire to have more children (even if I could) and it was a wonderful blessing, but my grandsons w-e-a-r m-e o-u-t the first five minutes they are awake. And as for pets, I can’t do multiple. My dog requires a lot of attention and I am ready to focus on my own aging body.

I think it’s understandable that, after raising your children without much support from your husband, you’d want to focus on yourself more now. I’m very sorry to hear about your son. I’ve got a few stillborn siblings myself too and they’re still an important part of our family, although I don’t remember the birth or expecting of any of them very clearly myself so it’s not quite as difficult from my perspective as it must be for a parent.

Given that I already have 4 guinea pigs, I’ll say 3 pets!

That surely wouldn’t be a problem for you. π

Three pets. At one time I had two dogs and two parakeets, another four dogs, then four dogs and two cats. I can do pets, children scare the bejeebers out of me. I never wanted full time charge of children.

It’s interesting that Mr. Kitty has known four dogs just from living here. We got Mr. Kitty in 2013 and had Echo the spaniel at the time. Echo died in 2015. Then, we took in a lost doggie (Woofer) for a few days. After Woofer, we got Sammy Samson; and now we have LuLu the pup. Mr. Kitty never had issues with any of those doggies! I guess it gives me hope that if we were to get a third pet now, another dog or cat, Mr. Kitty would still be okay! I’d like that option of having three pets!! Now if I could just sell my dad on it! π

It’s great that Mr. Kitty is so non-problematic and likes other animals! π Misha has much less of a problem with dogs, from what I can see, as he can play with Jocky just fine, as long as it’s not for too long, though perhaps it would be different if Jocky actually lived inside, hard to say. But as far as his species is concerned, he doesn’t like it one bit, perhaps only watching through the window.
