Hi people. ๐ Ok here are some overdue questions for you.
Has anyone ever made a rude comment about your job/profession?
My answer:
Nope. Probably because I haven’t been working for more than I guess two or three years and don’t have that much experience, also it’s nothing very unusual/controversial or anything like that that I do, and I don’t talk with everyone about my job.
How about you? ๐
Not really except that one guy I began dating assumed I made a ton of money because he read that the legal secretaries to famous celebrity lawyers did. You know, the ones you see on TV all glammed up next to attorneys to the stars who get in trouble. I work for a tiny real estate firm in Irvine. ๐๐๐

Wow quite a weird assumption indeed. ๐

Well Iโve never worked, so no. I do sometimes get rude comments about the fact that Iโm on disability benefits. Like, my sister, who never worked during college, assumed neither would I even if I were non-disabled, so she thought my getting benefits during college was weird.

Oh I also dislike all those comments about disability benefits. I’ve been receiving them for a relatively short time, and I’ve already got some, including my brother saying that now I’ll surely be a billionaire, both working and being on benefits. I could appreciate the humourous thing about it but it sounded really bad to me anyway.

Yeah, if it were said as a joke, Iโd understand it, but my sister was serious.

Fun question! Yeah, I used to work as a reading teacher at a private learning clinic. I was trained in phonemes, quiet/noisy sounds, opening and closing consonant clusters, diphthongs, common words that are spelled wrong based on how they sound, two vowels go walking, the -tch and -dge rules, when to spell with oy instead of oi, the ending grid (-tion, -tia, -tious, -gion, -gia, -gious, etc.), schwa, syllable emphasis, reading comprehension via inner imagery, etc. It always felt degrading whenever anyone would refer to me as being a tutor. We were educating, not tutoring! ๐ฎ Major pet peeve!!

Well there’s a huge difference between educating and tutoring, so I can easily understand it must have been very annoying for you.
